Workspace terminal
The built-in terminal with tabs, special keys, and how the agent shares it.
Every workspace with Linux installed has a real interactive terminal. Open it from the workspace's Terminal tab, from the chat's workspace chip, or "Open terminal here" on any folder.
- Tabs: New terminal tab, switch between "Terminal 1, 2…", close a tab (any process still running in it is terminated).
- An extra keys row provides Esc, arrows, Home/End and control keys.
- If Linux is not installed you see Install Linux environment; if the shell fails, Retry.
The agent and the terminal#
The agent uses the same terminal you see (workspace_terminal): it can list tabs, open a new tab, run a command and read back only the tail of the output and exit code, send keys (Ctrl-C), and read the screen. Long tasks like npm run dev run in the background (workspace_run_background) with status and logs.
Useful things to ask#
Install express and start a server on port 3000, then show me a preview
Run the tests and fix what fails
Show me what changed since the last checkpoint
Share my dev server on a public link for 30 minutes
workspace_port_preview gives a local preview URL; workspace_screenshot takes a screenshot of the page in a hidden browser; workspace_share_tunnel opens a temporary public https link (Cloudflare quick tunnel, auto-stops, always asks first).
