Archived chats and archive lock
Hide chats in a password and biometric protected archive, auto-lock, and how to reset or remove the password.
Archive hides chats from your list. The first time, CX asks you to Lock your archive with a password (at least 4 characters), optionally with biometric unlock.
Archiving#
- Chat menu → Archive chat, or long-press a chat in the drawer → Archive chat, or swipe.
- Open the archive by pulling down at the top of the drawer list ("Release to open archive") or via Settings → Data and backup → Archived chats.
Unlocking#
Unlock with biometrics or Use password. After too many wrong attempts you must wait ("Try again in n s").
Archive security#
| Option | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Biometric unlock | Fingerprint or face. Set one up in phone settings first. |
| Change password | Needs your current password. |
| Auto-lock | Immediately, After 1 minute or After 5 minutes. |
| Hide from search and history | Archived chats won't show up there. |
| Forgot password | Verify with your phone screen lock, then set a new password. Without a screen lock it cannot be reset. |
| Remove password | All archived chats return to your normal list. |
Inside the archive: Restore a chat or delete it permanently.
Note
This version has no lock for the whole app; the archive lock protects archived chats only.
