Local web server
The built-in web API server for using CX from a browser on your network.
CX Agent includes a small built-in web server (Ktor) that exposes your chats over HTTP so a browser on the same network can use them: list and search conversations, send messages, regenerate, stop, fork, rename, pin, move to folders, upload files, approve tools and change model/search settings.
How it behaves#
- Default port 8080.
- Optional JWT authentication with an access password (stored encrypted).
- Localhost only mode keeps it private to the phone.
- It runs as a foreground service with a "Web Server Running" notification (channel Web Server) and a Stop action.
- The server is advertised on your local network (mDNS) when LAN access is allowed.
- On Android 17+, LAN access needs the Local network permission; it also needs notification permission to start.
Note
In this version there is no on-screen switch for the web server. It starts at launch only if it was enabled in your saved settings (for example restored from an older backup). Use Stop in its notification to turn it off.
